Welcome to Our Home Harper
Since last Thursday, we have had a house-guest, namely my mom's dog Harper. Harper is a sweet beagle although he is a little neurotic. He has been a great guest because he refuses to leave the living room - so we don't have to worry about him "getting into" or destroying anything. Girlie is able to have her own private space since she has no problems going into any part of the house - we have the baby gates blocking her out of several rooms to prove it.
While Harper was visiting, I decided to work on a small project that I could keep out of his reach, just in case he wanted to "taste" my project (like Girlie tries to) and so I finished the Halloween Wreath project shown here. It is a Kooler Design Studio kit that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I thought the design was so cute and KDS has some of my favorite cross-stitching ever, but the kit was a little bit of a disappointment. The floss was fine when I was using 2 strands to do the cross-stitches but it tended to break when I was using one strand to do the back stitch. The fabric was a little bit mediocre. Also the chart was very tiny and difficult to read. And finally, the kit came with a frame, but no pre-cut mounting board. Apparently the piece of posterboard type paper that was in the kit was what you are supposed to use as the mounting paper. I will just use the frame for something else and make the little design into a pillow style ornament.
While Harper was visiting, I also watched a lot of TV because I didn't want to leave him alone in the living room - he needs a lot of attention. So I alternated between CSI (Hulu) and Fringe (Netflix). I had never seen either show in the past and both are quite interesting. I also caught up on my regular shows as they popped up in my queue.
Harper leaves tomorrow and Girlie is going to miss him, but I think she is just about ready to get back to being the only dog in the house. She is a little jealous of Harper, but she has been VERY nice to him.
