Good-bye to Glee
I can't really explain why I loved the show Glee so much, but of course, I am going to try. It is the only show I ever remember watching from the very first episode to the last as it aired (and not in a binge watch marathon on Netflix). I think one of the reasons I liked it so much is because I never got to be in a singing group in high school (other than my church choir - ho hum) because for the four years I was in high school there was no music program (other than band) - before I arrived and after I graduated there were choral programs, but not for my four years. So Glee allowed me to live vicariously - even if it was an over-the-top, crazy glee club. Another reason I liked Glee was because I discovered new music through the show. And I do love music - a lot.
The characters were another reason I like the show. Sue and Schue, Figgins, Beiste - and all the kids who passed through McKinley High - including the ones who just couldn't stay away and kept showing up over and over again even after they graduated. Oh, and all the great guest stars made for another reason to love the show.
So when the last episode aired last week, I was so sad. It was the end of an era for me. And even though the show had never been the same since Cory died and the character of Finn was no more, I would have still watched it every week for as long as they wanted to produce it. But, it was time to say Good-bye Glee - and the last episode was really a great way to wrap the show up, at least in my opinion - I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more, I cried a LOT more and at some point in the future I know I will watch the show again - thank goodness for Netflix. But I will miss seeing new shows and finding out what Kurt, and Rachel and all the rest, even Sue have been up to.
Okay - on to another show that is still airing new episodes and will hopefully be on for many more years. Bob's Burgers - this week the episode was an homage to The Breakfast Club and it was one of the best episodes ever in a show that is always good. I will admit that it took me awhile to warm up to the show. I didn't like it at first, but I think it was because I didn't really give it a chance. Once I went back and watched the first season on Netflix, I warmed up to it and now it is one of my favorite shows. Of course, I love animation so that is probably not surprising. It never fails to make me laugh out loud at least once each week. I am glad my friend Bobby kept insisting I give it another chance.
